As a video editor in Asia and specifically Bangkok, I’ve worked on a wide range of projects throughout my career. However, few have been as meaningful to me as my recent collaboration with a team of base jumpers who are dedicated to raising awareness for brain trauma research (22jumps.org). Through my work on this project, I had the opportunity to use my skills to support an important cause and make a tangible impact on the lives of those affected by brain injuries.
Brain trauma is a complex and devastating condition that affects millions of people worldwide. Despite extensive research, many aspects of brain trauma remain poorly understood, and effective treatments are still lacking. As a result, finding new ways to advance brain trauma research is a critical priority. These guys want to raise money to help detect and diagnose brain trauma for the living before it becomes problematic, quite dangerous and ultimately fatal.
Through my work with the team and specifically producer/director/cinematographer Ewan Burns, I was able to create this video that helped identify the organization, the mission and hopefully will help to raise awareness for brain trauma research.
While I have not had any direct involvement with the researchers studying brain trauma, I am proud to be part of a team that is making a difference in the lives of those affected by this condition. The more funding we can get to help research, diagnose and treat BTIs the more people we can assist. The idea is to help the people who are living.
Through my work on this project, I hope to continue to raise awareness for brain trauma research and contribute to a better understanding of this condition. I am honored to be part of a team that is making a difference, and I look forward to seeing the impact of our work on those affected by brain trauma.

Towering above this city of 24 million people at 632m (2,073 feet), the Shanghai Tower is the tallest building in China and 2nd tallest in the world, only surpassed by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Its 128 stories are divided into 9 vertical zones, including retail at the base, offices in the middle, hotels and observation decks at the top. The super-tall skyscraper features a double-decker elevator that offers the longest single elevator journey in the world at 580m (1,900 feet) in under a minute.
Beginning in the early ’90s with the allocation of Lujiazui as a special investment zone, Shanghai’s skyline has grown to be one of the world’s most iconic. With three buildings over 420m (1,380 feet), Lujiazui today stands in stark contrast to what it was just 25 years ago, a low-built area consisting of residences, warehouses and a few factories. The completion of the Shanghai Tower not only represents the financial success of Shanghai, it symbolizes China’s new self-confidence and the shift in the global balance of economic power.
Construction had already begun when I arrived in the city in 2009. The site was a large hole in the ground with construction crews milling around pouring concrete for the base. I began exploring the city looking for views and locations that would serve as groundwork for this video. In 2011, I secured a location with unobstructed views of Lujiazui where I could just glimpse the tower peeking behind the 185m (607 feet) Aurora Plaza. I maintained a camera there for the next 4 years until the tower was completed. In the meantime I took hundreds of thousands of photos from various viewpoints around the city filling up around 8TB in the process. In all, over 1000 hours were dedicated to this project in exploring, shooting and post-processing. I used a variety of Canon cameras, lenses and motion control equipment to shoot. LRTimelapse (lrtimelapse.com) was used for de-flickering while Adobe After Effects and Premiere were used for editing.

Shanghai American School - In One Day
Learn more
In 2019 I was commissioned by Shanghai American School to produce a series of videos for their two campuses. The concept was to capture just one day in each division to show the diversity of all the activities and learning experiences that happen every day on campus. We had 5-7 cameras running around the campus as well as a few timelapse cameras installed to capture the activity of the students and faculty. Everything in the videos actually happened on the one day we designated as a shoot day.
Each campus has 3 divisions: elementary, middle school and high school. We created a video per division as well as 6 videos targeting prospective students and parents for each division. Using the footage collected from the shooting days I compiled a main video for the school to showcase the incredible diversity of activities at the school. The music was composed by a high school student, Anna Snow.
As a fun gift I also edited a blooper reel as the students and faculty were an absolute joy to film with. -

Unveiling the Bumgun: A Hilarious Brand Identity VideoWhen it comes to cleaning solutions, one company dares to inject humor into the mundane. Introducing the bumgun, the ingenious hose attachment that revolutionizes toilet hygiene with a touch of wit and whimsy. My recent collaboration with the bumgun team was nothing short of a riotous adventure. From the bustling streets of Bangkok’s Sathorn district to the editing room where laughter echoed through the corridors, creating their brand identity video was an absolute blast. From the get-go, it was clear that humor would be our guiding star. Armed with tongue-in-cheek memes, clever cuts from classic movies, and a script peppered with jokes and double entendres, we embarked on a mission to capture the essence of the bumgun spirit.Filmed entirely on location in Bangkok we filmed using my trusty Blackmagic URSA Mini Pro 4.6k and audio was captured on my wireless lavs. But the fun didn’t stop when the cameras rolled. It’s a reminder of the camaraderie that defined the entire production process.Working with the bumgun team was an absolute delight. Every moment of this project a pleasure. So, if you’re ready to add a touch of humor to your daily routine and upgrade your toilet game, look no further than bumgun. This short film focuses on the urban renewal in Shanghai, China over 7 years. Using drone footage and time-lapse photography this 7 minute film reveals the development of the city in a dramatic fashion. From the Shanghai Urban Planning Museum:As an important economic center and shipping center of China, a city well-known for history and culture, Shanghai will be gradually developed into an international metropolis of socialist modernization, building it into an international economic center, financial center, trade center and shipping center of the world. The Shanghai Urban Master Plan (1999-2020) approved by the State Council in 2001 proposed to further develop along the riverside and coastline based on the development along the traditional Shanghai-Ningbo and Shanghai-Hangzhou axes. It also planned to continue the development in Pudong New Area, focus on building new towns and central towns, and take Chongming as the strategic space for sustainable development of Shanghai in the 21st century. The plan put forward an urban space outlay with “multiple axes”, multiple layers and multiple cores” and a township system with four layers including “central cities, new cities, central town and ordinary town”, of which central cities maintained the “open” outlay with “multiple centers”.The new round of urban master plan of Shanghai will follow the principle of “compilation based on various opinions”. It will provide the public with the all-course participation mechanism and means featuring all directions, multi-levels and various channels. The highlight in the innovation of public participation modesis (sic) the establishment of a public participation advisory panel consisting of representatives from all walks of life. They will directly participate in the consultation of key issues or phase achievements in the new round of urban master plan, which will reflect the opinions and advice of various social groups. Meanwhile, the public may grasp various information about compilation of the new round of master plan in an all-sided and instant manner through channels such as official WeChat, Weibo (microblog), and website. They may participate in the whole course of plan compilation and give feedback in time.Shot with a DJI Phantom 4, Canon DSLRs (550D, 600D, 6D) between 2009 and 2017. Adobe After Effects, Premiere, Lightroom, LRTimelapse and Davinci Resolve were used for post.Music is “The Violent Bear it Away” by Moby. Used with license.

Abandoned in the 1990s, Houtouwan is a small fishing village on the eastern most Chinese island of Shengshan. Due to large trawlers from nearby Shanghai, the fishing supply was depleted and forced the residents to find work elsewhere. Now this ghost village only sees tourists and a few locals selling essentials for the day trippers.Music is Moby – Look Back In. Used with license.
