🎬 YouTube Video Editor (Long-Form + Shorts)

Dalua Fishroom is a YouTube channel in the aquarium and aquascaping space. Our goal is to scale from 6.3K to 100K subscribers by the end of 2026, without sacrificing the quality, pacing, or personality that built the channel.
We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented YouTube editor to handle the execution side of editing, allowing the creator to focus on storytelling, on-camera performance, and creative direction.
This role is ideal for someone who understands retention, pacing, and YouTube-first editing — not just cutting clips.

🔧 YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Long-Form YouTube Editing
- Edit 8–12 minute YouTube videos
- Create clean, tight cuts (remove pauses, mistakes, filler)
- Assemble A-roll and B-roll from provided folders
- Match pacing using provided reference videos
- Apply basic sound levelling (dialogue clarity first)
- Maintain consistent energy and flow throughout the video
- Add music that matches energy and never overpowers dialogue
- Deliver a strong 80–90% finished cut

Short-Form Content (Optional / Bonus)
- Cut 2–3 Shorts per long-form video
- Vertical format (9:16)
- Add dynamic, readable captions
- Export correctly for YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Facebook
- Workflow & Delivery
- Maintain organised timelines and meet agreed deadlines
- Use clean, consistent file naming
- Handle feedback efficiently and professionally

No scripting
No thumbnails
No uploading
No creative direction decisions
This role focuses on high-quality execution, not creative decision-making or content direction.

Experienced with YouTube editing (not just social clips)
Comfortable editing talking-head content with B-roll
Fast without being sloppy
Receptive to feedback
Able to match the pacing from references
Reliable, organised, and communicative
You understand that retention matters more than flashy effects.

💰 PAYMENT

$120–$180 AUD per long-form video (based on experience and performance)
Shorts paid per clip (see structure below)
Consistent weekly work for the right editor
Teams meetings if required
This is a long-term position, not a one-off gig
Editor Tiers

$120 Editor
Edits clips as directed
Focuses on execution
Requires revisions
Waits for feedback before adjusting
Saves time by handling the workload

$180 Editor
Understands creative intent
Edits for flow and retention
Proactively improves pacing
Requires minimal feedback
Anticipates issues before they’re flagged
Improves overall video outcomes (outperforms current posts)

📱 SHORT-FORM EDITING – PAYMENT STRUCTURE
Short-form editing is paid per clip, not hourly.
Standard Rate – $12 AUD per Short
Applies when the editor independently identifies strong clip moments, edits for retention and pacing, writes clean captions, applies emphasis correctly, and delivers platform-ready exports. Shorts at this level typically average 5–10K views. This is the default tier.

Performance Tier – $15–$20 AUD per Short
Applies when the editor consistently selects strong hooks, understands Shorts pacing, requires minimal revisions, and produces Shorts averaging 20K+ views. This tier unlocks after a minimum 3-week period of consistently achieving 20K+ views.
Weekly costs remain predictable and scalable, based on output and performance.
