We are seeking a talented and motivated video editor to join us in creating compelling essay and documentary-style football videos for a new YouTube channel. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for football, particularly English football, and who has the creative vision to transform commentary and scripts into engaging, high-quality video content. Initially, this position is on a one-off project basis, with the potential for an ongoing collaboration should the right candidate be found. The primary role of the editor will be to take provided audio commentary and scripts and work collaboratively to create football-focused documentary videos. You’ll be responsible for all aspects of video editing, from sequencing clips to refining visual transitions and adding effects. Given the essay/documentary nature of the content, this role requires someone who can not only handle technical editing tasks but also think like a storyteller, using visuals and sound to enhance narrative flow and engagement.

Sourcing B-Roll Footage and Visual Elements
One of the essential skills required for this role is proficiency in sourcing B-Roll and supplementary footage. This includes locating high-quality, relevant video clips that align with the script’s themes and enhance the overall storytelling. Knowledge of popular and accessible sources for football footage—especially within copyright guidelines—is a strong advantage. Creative use of stock footage, slow-motion shots, crowd reactions, archival clips, and other relevant visuals is encouraged to enhance the overall impact and quality of each video.

Audio and Music Selection
Beyond visuals, the editor will play a critical role in choosing and sourcing background music, sound effects, and ambient sound that align with the intended tone of each video. Whether it’s the excitement of a match, the tension of a close game, or the nostalgia of football history, selecting the right soundscapes and music is essential to create an immersive experience for viewers. Knowledge of resources for royalty-free music or the ability to select tracks that support the script’s mood is a must.

The ideal candidate should have experience editing for YouTube or similar platforms, particularly within the sports or documentary genre. Knowledge of English football, its teams, leagues, key players, and recent hot topics is essential. Familiarity with platforms like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve is preferred, and experience in color grading, audio leveling, and basic graphics is a plus.

Although this role begins on a single-project basis, we are eager to establish a long-term working relationship with an editor who can consistently deliver high-quality work. The channel is in its early stages, and as it grows, so too will the responsibilities and opportunities associated with this position.
