We are seeking a skilled YouTube Documentary Topic Researcher to identify compelling, high-impact documentary ideas. This role focuses on deep research, storytelling potential, and uncovering real-world topics that can be turned into engaging long-form documentary content for YouTube.
Responsibilities
- Research powerful documentary topics (history, crime, business, society, culture, mysteries, etc.)
- Identify untold stories, unique angles, and emotionally engaging narratives
- Analyze successful documentary channels and trending long-form content
- Validate topics using YouTube trends, search demand, and audience interest
- Provide detailed topic briefs including background, key points, and story arcs
- Suggest strong documentary titles and hooks
- Fact-check information and verify credible sources
- Stay informed on global news, historical events, and emerging real-world stories
Requirements
- Strong research and analytical skills
- Passion for documentaries and long-form storytelling
- Ability to identify topics with viral and evergreen potential
- Familiarity with YouTube documentary channels and formats
- Experience with online research tools, archives, and credible sources
- Excellent written communication skills
Preferred (But Not Required)
- Background in journalism, history, or documentary research
- Experience working with YouTube creators or media companies
- Understanding of YouTube SEO and audience psychology
